Student & Children’s Privacy
What EduQuizzy collects when a pupil takes a quiz, and what it never does with it.
Why this page exists
Most people answering a quiz on EduQuizzy are somebody's pupils, and many are children. That deserves saying plainly rather than being buried in a general privacy policy.
We collect as little as possible
To take a quiz, a student needs a room code. That is it. A room can be set to accept a name so the teacher knows whose answers are whose, and it can be set to accept nothing at all, in which case answers are recorded against "Student 1", "Student 2" and so on. We do not ask a student for a date of birth, a phone number, a photograph, or a home address, and there is nowhere to enter one.
What is stored when a student answers
The room, the questions as they stood at that moment, the answers given, whether each was correct, and the name or label the student joined under. That is what a teacher's report is made of. It is kept so the teacher can mark and review the session.
E-mail addresses
A teacher can switch on a setting that asks each student for an address so their result can be sent to them. When that is on, the join form says so before anything is typed, and it says that the address also joins our mailing list, with one click to leave. If you are setting a quiz for children, think about whether you want that switch on at all — it is off by default, and a quiz works perfectly without it.
Accounts for students
A student account can be created so results appear in one place over time. It stores an e-mail address, a display name, and optionally a school and year group. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you believe one exists, tell us and we will remove it.
The teacher is in charge of the class data
For material a teacher puts in — quizzes, room names, class results — the teacher and their school decide what is collected and how long it is kept; we hold it on their behalf. A teacher can delete a quiz, a room or a whole report at any time, and deleting removes the answers with it.
What we never do
- We do not sell student data. There is no arrangement under which anyone pays us for it.
- We do not build advertising profiles, and we run no advertising on EduQuizzy.
- We do not use student answers to train models.
- We do not send marketing e-mail to an address collected inside a quiz beyond the mailing list described above, which can be left in one click.
Parents and schools
If you are a parent or a school and want to know what is held about a particular student, or want it deleted, write to privacy@eduquizzy.com. Ask through the school where you can — the teacher who ran the session can usually answer faster than we can, because it is their room.
