What cookies we use

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use as few as we can, in two groups.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, remember which room you have joined so a refresh does not lose your place, and protect forms against abuse. They are not used to track you and are not shared with anyone.

Analytics

These tell us which pages are used and where people give up, so we can fix the parts that do not work. They are only set if you agree, and nothing is loaded until you do — choosing "Reject" means the analytics scripts are never requested at all, not merely ignored.

Your choice

You choose when you first arrive, and you can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. We record what you chose and when, because we have to be able to show that we asked. That record is a random identifier your browser generates for this purpose alone — it is not linked to your name, your account or your address.

Cookies we do not use

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share what we collect with advertisers.
